The Washington National Records Center in Suitland, Maryland will be closed on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, to enable an evaluation of damage to the building following yesterday afternoon’s earthquake.
GSA and NARA have taken this step based on an initial assessment of visible damage to the building. At this time there is no known damage to records from yesterday’s event.
We will share more specific information on the building status with our agency customers through our various communications channels as it becomes available.
