The Information Policy, Census, and National Archives Subcommittee of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is holding a hearing tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. This hearing, entitled “Federal Electronic Records Management: A Status Report” will examine the current state of electronic records management in Federal agencies.
The Archivist of the United States David Ferriero; NARA’s Director of Litigation Jason Baron; and I will testify about NARA’s role in Federal electronic records management and will detail what we consider to be the greatest challenges facing agencies in the scheduling and preservation of electronic records. We’ll also discuss NARA’s oversight responsibilities for identifying and preserving those electronic records that are appraised as permanent. A second panel of outside experts will also testify.
Tomorrow afternoon, tune in to the Subcommittee’s website for live streaming of the hearing. I will also report on the hearing and post the testimony here on Records Express later this week.
Thanks for using this forum to spread the word about this hearing (and the livestreaming), Paul!
