Industry Day for Electronic Messages on August 6

We will be co-hosting an Industry Day with GSA on August 6 to launch the next phase of our Federal Electronic Records Modernization Initiative (FERMI). The Industry Day will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Eastern in the McGowan Theater at the National Archives Building.

We will announce how vendors listed on GSA Schedule 36, Special Item Number 51-600, Electronic Records Management will have the opportunity to create demos based on the draft Use Cases for Electronic Messages (Word document). The Use Cases are modeled after the ERM Federal Integrated Business Framework (ERM-FIBF) (Excel spreadsheet), and they tell the “stories” of how to manage electronic messages.

At the Industry Day, we will review in detail the following three scenarios from the Use Cases:

  • ERM.010.L1.02. Determine if the electronic message can be placed under records management control
  • ERM.020.L1.02. Manage the metadata of an electronic message record throughout the lifecycle
  • ERM.030.L1.02. Dispose of approved electronic message records

Vendors will individually develop demos of how their solutions could meet the scenarios. GSA will work with the vendors to make the demos available to agencies through the Acquisitions Gateway. Agencies can use these demos as market research to evaluate how well solutions manage electronic messages.

Click here to register for the Industry Day. If you are unable to register using the link, please contact recordsmanagement@gsa.gov to register. Both agencies and vendors are welcome to attend.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce our new FERMI webpage. Please check back often for updates as we post more guidance products and updates. If you have any questions, please email us at PRMD@nara.gov.
