Opportunity for Comment: Draft Services Measures for Electronic Records Management

We have posted our draft Federal Integrated Business Framework (FIBF) Service Measures on regulations.gov for public comment.

These draft service measures are a part of our Federal Electronic Records Modernization Initiative (FERMI). NARA serves as the Electronic Records Management (ERM) standards lead on the Business Standards Council (BSC). These draft service measures are the last piece of the ERM FIBF we have been developing over the past few years. The BSC is working to incorporate business capabilities of functional areas, such as financial management and HR management, into shared services. Our goal is to ensure records created within shared services are managed in accordance with federal records management laws, regulations, and guidance.

The service measures are intended to:

  • Define and incorporate tracking elements useful to records management;
  • Ensure those elements generate measurable data showing a system’s effectiveness in the area of records management; and
  • Hold service providers accountable through this data.

If you have any comments, please add them on regulations.gov. You can send questions to rmpolicy@nara.gov.
